What to Expect From Acupuncture for Your Pet
At Plains Animal Hospital, we can employ acupuncture as either primary treatment or to support a more traditional approach.
A treatment that works for one animal may have a completely different effect on another. We'll review the specifics of your pet's condition, assess his or her medical history, and conduct a physical exam. Then we'll be able to make recommendations regarding acupuncture, herbal therapy, and food therapy.
At Plains Animal Hospital, all acupuncture treatments are performed by veterinarians who are certified in veterinary acupuncture. Then the length and frequency of sessions will vary depending on the needs of your pet.
Different pets may have different responses to acupuncture. Some show no sensitivity, while others may experience brief discomfort when the needles are inserted. This is because some acupuncture points are more sensitive than others. Once the needles are in place, your pet should feel no pain or soreness, and may even become relaxed or sleepy.
